What We Can't Buy
Steel & Iron
We do not buy steel or iron via our app, as low prices mean it is not viable to post these grades of scrap and still be profitable, but you are welcome to donate it for responsible recycling. The equivalent of the value of the material will be donated to an environmental cause.
Batteries
Please do not send us any batteries. Batteries are classed as hazardous waste. They are not allowed to be posted and require specialist recycling.
Hazardous metals
Please do not send what could be classed as biohazardous, hazardous or hygienically compromised metals.
Examples are;
- Razor blades
- Needles
- Any medical metal devices such as medical pins or pricks
- Any items that are designed to penetrate the skin or be inserted in any part of the body (human and animal)
- Any metals still containing any kind of liquid, oils or acids
We are vehemently against metal theft and we will not accept any of the following scrap metals from members of the public
All of these items are identifiable to recyclers and ScrapThat reserves the right to notify the police and pass on your personal details should any metal received from you be suspected or identified as stolen. We will not pay for any metals received that are suspected or identified as stolen.
